Lake Roosevelt

Lake Roosevelt is the reservoir behind Grand Coulee Dam. It runs more than 150 miles up the Columbia River toward Canada, and it's part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, run by the National Park Service.

The park sits on a terrace above the lake, a few minutes' drive from the water.

Keller Ferry boat launch and ferry

The Park Service's Keller Ferry day-use area is 1 to 1.5 miles north of the park. It has a boat launch, a covered picnic shelter, and a grassy area with shade trees beside the water.

The campground there has no hookups. Every site at River Rue has water, sewer, and 30 and 50 amp power, and you can ask about boat storage when you request your site.

The Keller Ferry itself is a free Washington State ferry that carries WA-21 across the lake, on demand from 6 a.m. to midnight. It has been out of service at times, so check WSDOT before you plan a crossing.

Fishing Lake Roosevelt

Lake Roosevelt is open to fishing all year, except for sturgeon, which have their own rules. Walleye, rainbow trout, kokanee, smallmouth bass, and white sturgeon are the main catches.

You'll need a Washington fishing license. Check the Department of Fish and Wildlife's current rules and limits before you go.

Grand Coulee Dam

The dam is about 30 miles from the park, roughly 35 minutes by road through Wilbur on WA-174.

Its visitor center is open year-round. On summer nights, from late May through September, a free laser light show plays across the face of the dam.
